The Recovery Journey
Recovery is not a single event — it's a process. Here's what to expect at each stage and how BHS supports you along the way.
The journey to recovery from substance use disorder is deeply personal and unique to each individual. While no two paths are exactly alike, most recovery journeys follow a general progression from crisis to stability to growth.
It's important to understand that recovery is not linear. Setbacks and challenges are a normal part of the process — not a sign of failure. What matters is having the right support system and resources in place to help you move forward.
At BHS, we provide a continuum of care that meets you where you are, from medical detox and residential treatment to outpatient programs and transitional housing. Our goal is to equip you with the tools, skills, and support you need for lasting recovery.
What to Expect
Stages of Recovery
Detox & Stabilization
The first step is safely managing withdrawal symptoms under medical supervision. BHS offers medically-assisted detox programs to help you through this critical phase.
Treatment & Therapy
Through individual counseling, group therapy, and evidence-based treatment programs, you'll develop coping skills and address the root causes of addiction.
Transitional Support
As you progress, transitional housing and continued outpatient services provide a stable environment to practice your new skills in real-world settings.
Long-Term Recovery
Recovery is a lifelong journey. Ongoing support groups, alumni programs, and community connections help sustain sobriety and build a fulfilling life.
